ORDERING A TAXI

Can I order a taxi for a specific time?
Yes, you can order a TCA taxi to arrive at any time of day.

What details do I need when I make an order?
Keep the name of the street and the house number at hand, so we can help you quickly.

Can I order a TCA-taxi to pick me up at a subway and/or train station?
Yes, but only if you are able to tell a specific address including house number.

How do I know my order has been processed?
You can ask our call centre by calling +31-20-777 77 77.

How long do I have to wait after I ordered a taxi?
The average waiting time is 5 to 10 minutes. During heavy weather, in the night, outside the peripheral highway A10 and during rush hours, it may take longer.

Do I get a confirmation after ordering a taxi?
If you ordered a taxi using your mobile phone, we send you a text message as soon as the taxi is on its way.

Do I get a confirmation by text message when I did not provide a full address?
No, in that case we cannot send you a text message.

If I am out on the street and I have no street name and house number available, can I order a taxi?
Yes you can. In that case we send a message without obligation to all our drivers. However, we cannot guarantee a taxi will show up.

Can I be collected everywhere in the Netherlands?
Only when you travel on credit. Keep in mind that the taxi needs more time to arrive at your doorstep.
RATES

Is there a difference in rates between a sedan, station wagon and/or taxi van?
Sedans and station wagons have the same rates. For vans different rates apply. Please take a look at our rates.

Can I agree a fixed price before getting in the cab?
Yes. Usually every TCA driver uses the meter. But if you want to, you can agree on a fixed price before getting in. As soon as the meter is running, this is not possible anymore.

Is TCA handling a fixed fare for rides to Schiphol Airport?
Yes, TCA offers a special rate of maximum € 37,50 from Amsterdam, Diemen and Duivendrecht to Schiphol Airport. Same rate is applicable on your return. Read more about the conditions.
DURING THE RIDE

How many persons are allowed in a taxi?
In a sedan 4 persons, in a van 5, 6, 7 or 8 persons.

Does the driver have a navigation system on board?
Yes, all TCA drivers have navigation systems. However, because of their thorough knowledge of the city streets, they hardly need to use it.

Am I allowed to make phone calls in the taxi?
Yes, unless the driver makes objection.

Does the driver take the shortest route or the fastest route?
A TCA driver automatically takes the shortest route. During rush hour or road works, the driver might consult you about an alternative (faster) route.

Are TCA drivers allowed to drive on tram and bus lanes?
Yes, all TCA drivers have a dispensation to drive on tram and bus lanes. This enables them to avoid long queues waiting for traffic lights and crossings.

Can I stop at multiple adresses?
Yes, you can. Please mention this to the driver.
PAYING

Can I pay by credit card in the taxi?
Yes, in all TCA taxis it is possible to pay by credit card, except with Diners Club.

Can I pay by debit card in the taxi?
Yes, in all TCA taxis it is possible to pay by debit card.

Can I travel on credit?
Yes, you can, whether you are a private individual or a company. If you’d like to travel on credit, please take a look at the possibilities we offer.

Can I pay my taxi fare in advance?
Yes, you can. You can pay directly to the driver or to TCA’s Administrations department.

Can I pay with foreign currency?
Generally our drivers accept American dollars and British pounds. If you would like to pay with one of these currencies, please mention this when you order.

Do the drivers have sufficient change?
Yes, all drivers have sufficient change on board.
SPECIAL REQUESTS

Can I travel by TCA taxi while sitting in my wheelchair?
No, that is not possible. If you are able to come out of the wheelchair and the wheelchair can be folded, you can travel by TCA taxi.

Can I take my bike with me in the taxi?
Generally this is not possible. Only if you travel to Schiphol Airport, and your bike is already disassembled and packed in a carton travel box, we can take it in a TCA taxi van.

Can I take my mobility scooter in a taxi?
No, this is not possible.

Can I order a taxi of a certain car brand?
No, this is not possible.

Can I order a taxi with easy access?
Yes, you can. Please mention this when you order.

Can I take my pet in the taxi?
Most of the time yes. Not all TCA-drivers take pets. Please mention your request when you order.

Can I order a taxi with either a female or male driver?
No, we cannot select our drivers this way.

Can I order a taxi with a driver of a specific nationality?
No, we cannot select our drivers this way.

Can I order a taxi with a driver who speaks a specific language?
Yes, we'll do our best to help you out. Please order in advance, so we can find the right driver.

Can i order a well-dressed driver wearing a tie?
Yes, that is possible. Please mention your request when you order.

I am moving house. Can I ask TCA to move my belongings?
No, TCA is a passenger transport company.

Can i call in TCA for transportation during my wedding festivities?
Yes, it is always possible to order or pre-order taxis through the TCA website. However, we are not able to honour special requests like paying in advance.
TRAVELING WITH CHILDREN

Am I allowed to bring a baby?
Yes, but only if the baby is accompanied by an adult.

Can my child travel by taxi on its own?
An unaccompanied child is allowed to travel by taxi if it is 9 years or older. When you order, please mention the destination, the name of the person who meets the child at arrival and phone numbers of people involved.

Do cabs have a children’s seat?
No. They don’t need to, taxis have dispensation for this. If it makes you feel more comfortable, please do take your own.
COMPLAINTS AND LOST ITEMS

How can I file a complaint?
If you have a complaint, we will be happy if you fill in the complaint form on our website. If this isn't a possibility for you, please call +31-800-777 77 77.

Can I file a complaint anonymously?
No. You are obliged to mention your email address and/or phone number with your complaint.

I lost something in the taxi, what can I do?
In case of lost items, please fill in the lost property form on our website or contact our call centre dialling +31-20-777 77 77. In most cases we are able to reunite you with your belongings.
OTHER SERVICES

Can I call TCA for a short ride?
Yes, TCA drivers never refuse short rides

Can the driver help me with my luggage and with getting in?
Yes, every TCA driver carries your luggage into the car and helps you to get in if needed.

Can I travel with a TCA taxi when it snows?
Yes, as long as it is safe to drive, our drivers keep driving.

Can I be collected at Schiphol Airport?
The most convenient way to travel to and from the airport is by taxi. And with TCA, it's also affordable: max. €37,50. More information
